Grand Prairie Independent School District, a Dallas suburban district with 30,000 students, engaged Gibson to conduct a targeted efficiency study in an effort to identify cost savings opportunities. Gibson analyzed multiple years of data and conducted interviews with Grand Prairie Independent School District’s management.
Our report made several recommendations which represented a potential for General Fund savings of $682,000 to $882,000 per year, with additional long-term savings potential. Gibson also implemented performance-based budgeting at the school system so that the district could identify additional savings opportunities on its own
going forward. This project identified efficiency and qualitative performance measures for all non-instructional functions. We created a data visualization tool for displaying the performance measures and for enhancing the analysis and reporting of the measures. The district implemented all of Gibson’s recommendations and used a portion of the savings to underwrite the investment in performance-based budgeting.
